Israeli airstrikes hit Sana'a International Airport on Thursday during a televised speech by Abdul Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Houthi movement, sources in Yemen reported.
An Israeli official confirmed to Sky News Arabia that Israel carried out attacks on Sanaa International Airport, in response to a series of ballistic missile launches by the Houthis against Israel.
According to Yemeni sources, the attacks hit the airport's control tower and damaged the planes stationed there. Some accounts say all targets were civilians, with casualties reported, although exact numbers remain unclear. Further attacks reportedly hit the Haziz power plant near Sana'a and locations in the port city of Hodeidah.
Saudi TV Al Hadath later reported that the attacks had targeted seven sites in Sana'a, including energy and oil facilities, and three others in Hodeidah, including the port and power plants.
This attack follows last week's Israeli attack on Yemen, the first to hit Sana'a since the start of the war and the third Israeli operation in Yemen since October 7. The Houthis have launched multiple rocket attacks against Israel.
The attacks came as al-Houthi was delivering his usual Thursday speech, a platform often used to boast about attacks on Israel. The reclusive leader, who has been in hiding for years, delivers speeches exclusively via television. Despite the reported attacks, Houthi-controlled TV channels continued to broadcast his speech without interruption.
