Despite a chaotic launch, Fallout 76 has largely recovered in recent years. After a rather solid follow-up in 2024, Bethesda's online RPG has just welcomed a big update described as “the biggest evolution of high-level content to date”.
A new big update for Fallout 76 is available
The Bright Abyss update introduces a new raid that takes players into the depths of the Ashpit, in search of an ancient Enclave laboratory that conducted studies on ultracite. This raid is considered the hardest in the game to date. Fortunately, to help players through this ordeal, Bethesda has introduced four-star Legendary items, providing the opportunity to get your hands on ultra-powerful weapons and armor.
In addition to these clearly welcome new features, players can now welcome pets into their CAMP, such as cats and white German Shepherds, who can interact with special furniture in the game.
Finally, player titles are making their appearance in Fallout 76. Survivors can earn prefixes and suffixes by completing various in-game activities, some being retroactive for quests already completed.
The deployment of the Bright Abyss update also marks the debut of Season 19, The Scientific Forge. It focuses on the Enclave paramilitary organization, a former United States government faction, led by MODUS, a supercomputer powered by artificial intelligence. The Enclave's goal is to revitalize America through science, and this season immerses players in that universe. A Community Events Calendar is also available to inform players of upcoming activities this season.
The full patch notes for the update and season can be found on the Bethesda website.
Fallout 76 is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and of course on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation via backwards compatibility. It is of course available in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
