The Notre-Dame de Paris construction site is officially finished and new devices have been specially put in place to prevent any new fires in the Paris cathedral.
Do everything to never experience the horror of the flames again. This is what has driven Hamdi Harfouche, fire safety expert, for five years. With his teams, they worked tirelessly every corner of the cathedral to avoid another tragedy.
A virtually invisible cutting-edge system
“We have equipped the cathedral with the latest technology with thermal cameras which can detect flames. All the electrical cabinets have also been protected by automatic gas extinguishing systems and to also reinforce the attic. We have a fog system of water which will send out a mist which will smother the fire.”

A work of goldsmith and a technical prowess equal to the disproportionate Notre-Dame. “We really had to adapt on the site, so we used mountaineers to intervene on the highest points at the level of the spire, which is protected by an optical detection fiber.” A state-of-the-art fire-fighting system which does not distort the ancient architecture of the cathedral.

“It's secure in a way that's never been done before. We had to be able to match the colors perfectly. So, we had stone-tone detectors, running the cables through the joints. In fact, the system is almost invisible, but on the other hand, it will be very present and it will detect any fire outbreak early.” As a precaution, the water supply on the Île de la Cité has also been improved to react as quickly as possible in the event of a new fire in Notre-Dame.
