Two days after the bus accident which left two dead and 10 seriously injured in Cerdanya, the controversy is growing in Catalonia concerning the company which chartered the vehicle. According to the daily Arathe damaged coach had not not passed a technical inspection since October 2023although regulations require an inspection every six months. He would therefore have missed two consecutive checks.

According to initial reports, a brake problem was the cause of the tragedy. Several passengers reported that the driver tried to slow down the vehicle by rubbing it against a rock wall along the road. The coach was carrying 47 passengers as part of an organized trip between Hospitalet de Llobregat and Andorra, an express excursion offered during the Black Friday weekend.

According to the Catalan press, the company organizing the trip, Chavi , has been in receivership for several months due to heavy debts. However, this situation did not prevent him from continuing his activities. The investigation was entrusted this Tuesday to prosecutor's officewhich has a center specializing in collective accidents.
