Over the past two days, a publication on an account of the , being perceived as a threat to the country’s Euro-Atlantic membership, especially in the context of the current presidential elections.
The translation of Duguine’s message: „Where can the woke and the Democratic (Party) elite of the United States flee? Canada? Trudeau recently went to Mar-o-Lago. Israel? There is war there. London, Paris, Dubai? Exactly where the Russian liberals fled. Or Moldova? It will soon be part of Romania. But Romania will be part of Russia.”
A response to this message on the what he says is a form of trolling”, he felt the need to react “because this message went viral yesterday, being massively taken up in the media and social networks in Romania”. In the meantime, Dugin’s message has been deleted from the
Beyond the strong reactions, the natural question arose as to whether or not this is Dugin’s account and whether this publication reflects an authentic assertion by the Russian ideologue. The Facebook account Romanian Battlegroup “Getica”, which presents itself as “the Getica Combat Group, composed exclusively of Romanian-speaking fighters, in Ukraine”, states in a publication picked up by other media in Romania that: “We have fallen again in the trap of the Federation, even us, with a previous publication which repeated the declaration of ‘Douguine’ on X as being authentic”. The group adds: „The account Even if this profile has in its description the site where Duguine promotes his ideas, a site hosted on servers of the ‘Dusa’ Federation, the @Adgchan account is managed by a Russophile Brazilian (see the photos in the publication) which has been unmasked for some time by the OSINT team of The Owl (https://t.me/owlwatchers), a Telegram channel which, like #coloana5, deals with the identification of profiles famous extremists on the Internet.
VERIFICATION
We cannot verify the extent to which the account on Platform tools for detecting deep fakes.
A few days ago, on November 26, Aleksandr Dugin gave an interview to Radio Sputnik, in which he made statements that could be considered the source of inspiration for the publication on given that “if, in reality, Maia Sandu won in R. Moldova by illegal means, then if God wants this candidate Călin Georgescu to win, then R. Moldova will have nowhere where to go. If it moves towards Romania, then it will rather be closer to an allied bloc with us” (editor’s emphasis). Dugin praises the sovereignist candidate Călin Georgescu as “a remarkable politician”, but who “cannot be called pro-Russian”, but “is, let’s say, like Orban”. “He is against globalism, he is against the liberal agenda. He is a convinced Romanian patriot, he is an Orthodox Christian, he is a traditionalist, conservative. It is obvious that for us it is much easier to deal with such a politician, compared to others, it is easier for Russia, but not because he is pro-Russian, but because he is pro-Romanian, just as Orban is pro-Hungarian.”
We were able to verify using the “InVid WeVerify” tool that the fragment about Romania and Călin Georgescu in the audio interview is real, the voices have not been modified by artificial intelligence.
Fragments of this interview regarding Călin Georgescu’s rise to the top of politics in Romania were widely distributed on online social networks, especially by people who wanted to emphasize that he would be appreciated by Moscow. Here is Rador’s translation from Russian of the interview fragment referring to the Republic of Moldova and Romania:
“Journalist: I want to mention here that Vladimir Putin, in principle, comes out and comments for everyone so that it is clear not only to us inside the country, but also abroad. For example, those politicians who gave orders to shoot at Russia did not come out to comment and did not say anything. I would like to keep you for a few more minutes to comment on Romania, on what is happening there. Here, there were elections in the Republic of Moldova and (Maia, editor’s note) Sandu obtained a fairly hard-fought victory. And now (editor’s note) there were the elections in Romania, where Călin Georgescu won. He is accused of being close to Russia, but even those in the Kremlin say they are unaware of his position. Here I think there is a link with the Republic of Moldova because it wants to be with Romania, it is for European integration and here we are talking about a link with Russia. Something doesn’t add up.
Aleksandr Duguine: Călin Georgescu is a remarkable politician. Obviously, he cannot be called pro-Russian, but he is, let’s say, like Orban. He is against globalism, he is against the liberal agenda. He is a convinced Romanian patriot, he is an Orthodox Christian, he is a traditionalist, conservative. It is obvious that for us it is much easier to deal with such a politician, compared to others, it is easier for Russia, but not because he is pro-Russian, but because he is pro-Romanian, just as Orban is pro-Hungarian. Currently, in Europe, discontent with the supremacy of globalism and with Soros, with the candidates nominated by Soros, such as Maia Sandu, is increasing. And if in reality Maia Sandu won in R. Moldova by illegal means, then if God wants this candidate Călin Georgescu to win, then R. Moldova will have nowhere to go. If it moves towards Romania, then it will rather be closer to an allied bloc with us. These results are very important and unpredictable, because everyone thought that a classical nationalist who had less sympathies for Russia would win, but a candidate who has no sympathies for Russia won, a candidate who did not no sympathies for Russia at all won, a neutral candidate, who has neither sympathies nor antipathies for Russia, but a true representative of the people, extremely traditionalist, extremely conservative. The people can no longer support the designated globalists who are transforming an Orthodox Christian country, Romania, into one /…/ in fact, they are transforming the whole of Europe and the whole world. Behold, this opposition of Călin Georgescu is the voice of the people and there are no intrigues, nor political structures, because there are no parties, nor movements. He said this: I’ll tell you the truth, he said, I’ll help you get out of this situation. The Romanians in turn said: get us out of here because we are going to find ourselves in a historic impasse again. I think this is an extremely interesting signal, and the fact that it is pro-Russian is not true. Peskov, Dmitry Sergeyevich, it seems to me, commented and claimed that he did not have such information, he did not confirm. He is a remarkable candidate. We need him, not because he is pro-Russian, but because he is pro-Romanian, because he appreciates national values.”
CONCLUSION
It is very likely that the publication on the X platform does not belong to Aleksandr Dugin, but statements made by him in an interview for Sputnik a few days ago can be considered a source of inspiration for this publication.
