Challenge met! After five years of work, the complete restoration of Notre-Dame de Parispartially destroyed by the fire of April 15 and 16, 2019, which reduced its frame and spire to ashes, is completed. On November 29, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron made his last site visit to discover the final result, a few days before the big reopening ceremony of the cathedral, scheduled for December 7 and 8.
Scaffolders, carpenters, sculptors, campanists, stonemasons, gilders, skaters… Nearly 2,000 architects, workers and craftsmen from all trades worked tirelessly to accomplish this feat financed by the 846 million euros collected from private donors from around the world.
The monument has been given a new look and found its original claritywhich dazzles as much as it disconcerts – because the reunion is mixed with a true rediscovery of the venerable “Lady of Stone”, so regenerated that she had never been seen like this.
