A few hours after the fire in a squatted building in Caluire-et-Cuire, Pierre Oliver, LR mayor of the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon and the right-wing group at the Métropole de Lyon, Métro Positive, attacked politics environmentalists.
It was a fire which caused several injuries last night in Caluire-et-Cuire and which provoked strong reactions from the right-wing opposition in the Metropolis of Lyon. A few hours after the disaster which broke out in a squatted building, Montée de la Boucle, Pierre Oliver, LR mayor of the 2nd arrondissement, and the right-wing group at the Métropole de Lyon, Métro Positive, denounced the attitude of the City of Lyon, owner of the affected building.

If the two press releases mention “sadness“the disaster, for Pierre Oliver, the tragedy”was unfortunately predictable given the state of the building“.
“The criminal liability of the Mayor of Lyon is engaged”
“A little over a year ago when the occupants took possession of this building, the mayor of Caluire, knowing the state of disrepair of this building, issued a residential ban order and asked the Metropolis to Lyon, competent in the matter, to issue a danger order” explains the mayor of the 2nd arrondissement. “The Mayor of Lyon then chose not to request the evacuation of this squat and no danger order was issued. The criminal liability of the mayor of Lyon is therefore engaged here” he believes.
For the moment, the report shows two absolutely emergency injuries and two minor injuries. Several occupants are still being sought by emergency services. “People evacuated during the fire were taken care of in a gymnasium opened by the town hall of Caluire-et-Cuire” completes the La Métro Positive group, a group chaired by Philippe Cochet, mayor of Caluire.
“Inaction of elected environmentalists/LFI/socialists”
“The emotion faced by the distress of these people gives way to great anger against those responsible for these disastrous consequences. The illegal occupation was immediately denounced by the commune of Caluire-et-Cuire, but no protagonist wanted to take the danger into account, preferring to remain laissez-faire in the name of a political dogmatism that is now criminal.” continues the opposition group.
The opposition thus charges the town hall of Lyon and “its policy of hospitality practiced by this New Popular Front majority pushed by collectives
politically close.” “These unworthy squats which endanger people's lives are also made possible by the inaction of the elected environmentalists/LFI/socialists who manage the city of Lyon and the Métropole de Lyon” supports La Métro positive in its press release.
Before concluding: “Beyond the solidarity that must exist among us all to protect these populations, it is important to tell the truth to our residents and for everyone to understand the disastrous consequences of the political choices that led to this tragedy.“
