The price of tickets for concerts, amusement parks or holiday trains sometimes varies significantly from one week to the next. How to explain it? Elements of response.
In Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise (Savoie), the area manager has decided to remove the fixed price for the ski lifts, at 228 euros per week. From now on, the price will change every day, based on “dynamic pricing”. Several factors come into play: at the lowest, the package is 168 euros for seven days. The price may then change, depending in particular on holidays or the weather. Prices can then reach 240 euros.
Dynamic pricing is also used on online sales sites, for concert tickets or amusement park tickets. Disneyland Paris recently reviewed its pricing policy. To get the best price, customers must now anticipate. For a reservation on December 23, entry was 101 euros at the end of November, and 107 euros a week later.
Pricing sometimes creates controversy. Last August, after the group Oasis put concert tickets on sale in the United Kingdom, prices increased in seconds. “Instead of the expected 150 pounds, (…) the ticket rose to 350 pounds for a standing place,” had criticized a fan.
