CAIRO (Reuters) – Hamas announced on Monday that 33 hostages had been killed since the start of the conflict in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, without specifying their nationality.

The Palestinian armed movement added that some other hostages had disappeared.

Hamas kidnapped more than 250 people during its attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which also left 1,200 dead according to Israeli reports.

Around a hundred of them were released during a short truce in November 2023.

“As your crazy war continues, you could lose your hostages forever,” Hamas said in a statement. “Do what you have to do before it’s too late.”

Shortly afterwards, he released a video detailing, according to him, the dates and conditions of the death of these hostages, attributing responsibility to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli army did not immediately react.

It continued on Monday its military campaign in the Gaza Strip launched in retaliation for the October 7 attack. According to the authorities of the enclave, it killed more than 44,000 Palestinians in 14 months of war and displaced most of the population of the territory, entire sections of which were razed.
