Breaking news

there's no point in keeping him in Montreal

The Canadian had a big week of hockey in the last few days. Result of races against Utah, Columbus, New York and Boston: one win, two losses and one loss in overtime.

Three points out of eight, then.

The club is currently 31st in the league and we don't see any progress from the guys. The electroshocks that management tries to give to the team change nothing.

One of them? Joshua Roy.

Roy was brought in at a time when there was more talk of cutting guys to (possibly) make room for the injured than at a time when we saw a recall looming. But nevertheless, the CH decided to send Lucas Condotta down to bring back the Quebecer.

Roy was originally sent to to understand a message (no matter what the message was) and he was doing well in the AHL. But since he was recalled, we haven't seen him on the ice.

On the one hand, he's not involved and he seems lost. And on the other, it's not as if Martin St-Louis placed him in good conditions either in terms of playing time.

Apart from Tuesday's match, where Juraj Slafkovsky was though and where he played a second less than Roy, the Quebecer was systematically the player least used by his coach.

He doesn't have good playing partners (bottom-6) and he doesn't play on the power play. He also plays on the outskirts.

The question must therefore be asked: what is he doing in Montreal? Wouldn't it be better to go back to Laval to regain confidence, regain playing time… and help the Rocket get back on the path to victory?

He and Logan Mailloux have one thing in common: they started the season in Laval, even if they hoped to make the big club… they were entitled to a recall… and they didn't look very good.

In my eyes, sending Roy down is the right thing to do. He could have a real impact on the results of a club that needs him and it would take him out of the current Montreal atmosphere, too.

The Rocket was unable to win without him this week.

This week, the Canadian could indeed have help from Patrik Laine. And even if CH can add him to its roster of 23 players without cutting anyone else, it will still be necessary to put an attacker in the stands.

Why not take the opportunity to send Roy to Laval at that time? And since CH has often played with 22 players this year, it wouldn't surprise me if that's in the plans.

To be continued.

Let us also remember that the Canadian officially sent Rafaël Harvey-Pinard to Laval and that Michael Pezzetta did not play a single match in November. He played three games this year.
