In 2024, two types of devices that allow you to shorten the chore of cleaning are dueling. The first are known, but have recently been extremely improved: robot vacuum cleaners. The latter are barely arriving, driven by Chinese innovation and Dyson which is still trying to surpass its previous concepts: floor scrubbers. On Black Friday, we spotted some interesting offers.
Numerama only recommends products tested and/or approved by the editorial staff. These objects have passed into our hands and those of our colleagues at Frandroid, who also follow Black Friday. They can therefore end up with you without regret.
Floor scrubbers, the category of washing appliances of the future
Roughly speaking, the principle is simple: these devices replace the vacuum cleaner and the mop. In one pass, you vacuum up everything on your floor and wash it, using powerful wet brushes. They are, obviously, reserved for hard and even floors.
Dyson Wash G1 at €649
The Dyson Wash G1 is Dyson’s first attempt at making a fully washing machine—read, without a vacuum cleaner. We are in the process of testing it and it must be said that it clearly outperforms the competition thanks to its filtration system, its two tanks to separate dirty from clean, the possibility of putting detergent in the water and its powerful brushes, which will tackle tough tasks. It self-cleans itself to be ready for the next use. Our floors (tiles and parquet) are absolutely perfect.
At €649 instead of €699, this is your “safe” option to test this type of product with complete peace of mind.
Tineco Floor One S7 Pro at €479
Tineco is one of the Chinese companies that have invested enormously to develop this product category. A sign that they found something that worked, they moved Dyson from its lines, which was pushed to release its version of the floor scrubber. Tineco slashes its prices for its Floor One S7 Pro, which has the advantage of having a grazing brush to make the edges of rooms on both sides (the Dyson only has one side flush). Unlike the Dyson, it only has one brush.
Robot vacuum cleaners, moving upmarket at a lower price
Difficult to make it simpler: it vacuums alone and sometimes it washes. In your place, when you’re not there.
Ecovacs Deebot N20 Plus at €284
This is the start of the high-end with dust collection station, but with a very low price. Its strong points? 8000 Pa suction with anti-tangle technology for pet hair, excellent autonomy with a 5200 mAh battery allowing up to 300 minutes of cleaning and an automatic bagless emptying station which allows up to 45 days of cleaning ‘autonomy. In other words, you let it work and forget about it for 45 days and after that, you just have to transfer the reserve.
Dreame X40 Ultra Complete at €1,099
There, we enter the high end with vacuum AND washing robots. 12,000 Pa on the suction side, anti-tangle brush, cleaning hard floors and carpets… the Dreame X40 Ulra Complete can do it all, independently. On hard floors, you will also use a mop that lifts up so as not to wet your carpets. The water heats to 70 degrees and the humidity left on the floor is adjustable. In short, it can replace an entire household.
Ecovacs T30S Pro Omni at €699
The Ecovacs T30S Pro Omni is almost the same as the Dreame X40 Ultra. 11,000 Pa on the suction side, anti-tangle brush, cleaning, water heating to 70 degrees, tank and autonomous draining… it looks like a clone. Having several at home, we can just tell you that the Ecovacs application is poor, poorly translated and often buggy. Maybe that’s where we should find the price difference…
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra at €1,099
Roborock has eclipsed the giants of the sector (Roomba in the lead) with innovative and well-finished products. 10,000 Pa, 4,000 vibrations per minute, extendable brushes to vacuum corners and edges, AI to control the thing, water at 70 degrees to wash the floor, 180 minutes of autonomy… it’s one of the rolls of robot vacuum cleaners and it costs a bit less for Black Friday. Only buy if you have already tested the concept and want to move up a gear.
