Algeria is considered a key player in the fight against terrorism and trafficking of all kinds in the Maghreb and the Sahel.

The Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), Army General Said Chanegriha, affirms that “Algeria is and will remain a factor of stability”. “Algeria has always been and will remain a factor of stability in its geopolitical environment.

And this is because of its orientations and its doctrine based on the principle of good neighborliness, cooperation, solidarity and the rejection of all forms of domination, tyranny, violation of the sovereignty of the other and intervention in its internal affairs,” he said at the opening, yesterday at the Military Academy of Cherchell (Tipasa), of a graduation ceremony for the year 2023-2024.

During this ceremony, chaired by the Head of State, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Army General Said Chanegriha recalled the “initiatives taken by Algeria in favor of neighboring countries.” “Our country has shown, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, its willingness to contribute to the international effort to fight terrorism, the various forms of organized crime and illegal immigration.

Algeria has also undertaken many initiatives, on the diplomatic and military levels, to help neighboring countries regain their stability and safeguard the unity of their peoples and territories,” he said. Algeria, let us recall, is considered a key player in the fight against terrorism and trafficking of all kinds in the Maghreb and the Sahel.

These regions, it should be emphasized, are prey to political crises, aggravated by terrorism, banditry, arms and drug trafficking, as well as illegal immigration. A double effort is being made by Algeria to deal with this situation.

First, on the security front, the ANP and the various security services are waging a fierce fight against all these scourges. Then, the Algerian diplomatic apparatus is strongly mobilized to provide assistance and advice to the countries concerned and also to raise awareness in the international community on the need to guarantee the stability of these countries.

Highly qualified executives

Furthermore, Said Chanegriha stressed that the Cherchell Military Academy, like other training establishments of the National People’s Army, “trains highly qualified executives, armed with different sciences and imbued with national and republican values, aware of all the contexts and transformations that our world is experiencing.”

In this regard, he welcomed the graduation of the first class of female officer cadets from the Land Forces Command, who will be deployed in combat units. This ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials and senior officers of the National People’s Army (ANP).

After listening, in the lounge of honor, to a presentation on the training course at the Academy and the outgoing promotions named after the late mujahid Colonel Youcef Khatib, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over the traditional annual ceremony for the graduation of officer promotions.

This is the 55th class of active officer cadets in basic training, the 17th class of basic common military training and the 8th class of Master officers, including the first class of female officers for the benefit of the land forces command.

On this occasion, the Chief of Staff of the ANP addressed his “thanks and gratitude to the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, for having personally presided over the graduation ceremony of officers”, thereby saluting “the special attention and constant interest enjoyed by the Academy, like the various training schools of the National People’s Army.”
