▷ 5 new features and updates on LinkedIn

New options, new formats, deletion of features… things are happening on LinkedIn! To improve the browsing experience, the platform now focuses on tools promoting personalization and data security. Update on these updates…

Functional for only about 7 months, this badge system was used to help users demonstrate their expertise and experience in one or more specific areas. Gold badges were awarded to contributors to collaborative articles on a given skill. A reassessment was carried out every 60 days.

However, LinkedIn has decided to withdraw these Community Top Voice badges since October 8, 2024.

For what ? It was difficult to keep quality standards at the highest level, as the distribution of golden badges was done automatically, without serious evaluation.

Result ?

Fewer and fewer tools to showcase your know-how on the platform. However, the blue Top Voice badges still work and are awarded to high-level experts and leaders.

Despite this change, let’s still remain optimistic!

The Community Top Voice badge could be replaced by a more efficient and innovative system. The platform will screen its recognition criteria for deserving members.

2. No more celebratory posts like “Congratulations”

LinkedIn wants more than anything to give more importance to content personalization. You could thus create your own publications to celebrate important events with more authenticity.

For this reason, the platform has ended its celebratory post templates. If you use LinkedIn, you have certainly already seen automatic publications like:

  • “Welcome” following registration on the platform;
  • “Congratulations” after landing a new job, for example

These obsolete posts are also accompanied by animated graphics, but are considered too much and lack originality.

In return for this change, you can now create and publish your own texts, videos or images.

3. Goodbye to AI-generated prompts under Premium posts

Remember, these AI-generated prompts aim to improve Premium member engagement by providing them with suggested posts. But in the end, this objective was not achieved! Several users complained about this feature which bothered them.

These prompts were supposed to be inspiring, but in the end, that was not the case: they became funny, irrelevant, even meaningless! They even caused confusion for some users. Following these complaints, LinkedIn removed these automated suggestions.

This old functionality has therefore joined the graveyard of many other tools that the platform has withdrawn.

Despite this change, the platform continues to use AI to provide more accurate and personalized information on job searches.

4. New options to better protect data

LinkedIn highlights transparency and respect for the privacy of its members. In this sense, you can very well refuse the use of your personal information to train its artificial intelligence models.

How ? This option is enabled by default, but you can disable it by going to Settings under “Data for Generative AI Improvement”.

This way you can increase users’ trust in LinkedIn. This should alleviate their concerns about the exploitation of their personal data.

In addition, it meets the directives imposed by the European Regulation on Digital Markets (DMA).

5. A new advertising analytics feature

With this new feature, LinkedIn aims to support advertisers in determining the penetration rate of campaigns.

This will allow you to more accurately assess the impact of your advertising campaigns on LinkedIn Ads. With the information collected, you can more easily adjust your marketing strategies.

This training in community management, eligible for the CPF, will also help you implement a strategy adapted to your target. By passing the certification, you will be able to manage all the key stages of a community management strategy.

What do you think of these updates? Which ones do you find relevant?
