“Gaza under the claws of aggression: a human tragedy and shameful international silence
In Gaza, Israeli aggression continues with unprecedented brutality, surpassing initial statements that the goal was to free the hostages or eliminate the Hamas movement. What is becoming clear today is that the war is going beyond its stated objectives to aim for something more dangerous: the erasure of all that is Palestinian. Humans, property, trees, history, identity, and even collective memory – all have become direct targets in a war that seeks to erase and uproot Palestine. This is not a simple military confrontation; it is a systematic attempt to erase Palestine from the map.
A world silent in the face of disaster
How can an entire world, with its people, its governments, its international institutions and its human rights decisions, remain powerless in the face of this terrifying scene? The Security Council, which was created to maintain peace, is now unable to pass a simple resolution to stop the fighting. Human rights organizations, which carry slogans of justice and humanity, seem to have become silent spectators. The people, although united, were not able to exert pressure effectively.
Do we live in such a dark world? Have we sunk into the law of the fittest, where there is no longer room for human laws, and where survival is reserved for the most powerful? The question is: where is this world leading us? And what will be our fate if this shameful silence continues?
Daily massacres before the eyes of the world
The massacres that occur every day in Gaza are neither secret nor concealed. The world press, through its various means of distribution, documents these crimes both with images and videos, broadcasting them constantly. Scenes of destruction, scattered bodies and the cries of children have become part of daily news bulletins. And despite this clarity, it seems that the world watches this drama as if it were a television series, detached from reality.
But we are not in a television series. We live in a bloody and painful reality, where entire families are exterminated, populations are displaced and children and women are killed every day before the eyes of the whole world. It’s a human tragedy unfolding on our television screens, but no one is reacting.
A new Nakba and a shameful silence
This is not the first time that Palestinians have experienced exile and extermination. Since 1948, we have lived in a continuous Nakba. We were expelled, imprisoned in increasingly cramped areas, and lived under the yoke of occupation and siege for years. No one stood up for us then, and the world did not act when our lands were stolen. Today, when women and children have been exterminated for more than a year, the silence persists, as does international indifference.
Does the world have no shame?
Is the world not ashamed of this abominable silence? Isn’t it time to speak a word of truth? Where are the human consciences carried by the major international institutions? How can the world ignore the cries of mothers who have lost their children, the groans of the wounded, and the tears of children who see their childhood transformed into a distant dream?
Gaza questions the world: where is humanity?
What is happening in Gaza is not just a war; it is a true test for all of humanity. Gaza has become a symbol of resistance, but also the mirror that reflects the world’s inability to confront injustice. If this silence persists, history will not forgive humanity which has been a spectator without doing anything.
It is high time that the world stopped watching passively and assumed its moral, legal and human responsibilities. It is impossible to continue talking about Palestinian rights without taking action. The Palestinian people are not asking for the impossible; he simply asks to be treated as a human being, that his rights be respected and that the oppression and violence stop.
One last cry
To all those watching the tragedy in silence: Gaza is not just a news headline, nor a number in the news bulletins. Gaza is a human story, a cry of pain, a renewed Nakba. If this silence continues, we will all be complicit in the violence. It’s time to move, to tell the truth, and to allow Gaza to receive the aid it desperately needs. Gaza does not need compassion; Gaza needs real action.
