Lewis Hamilton estimates that they are Las Vegas Grand Prix “would have been easy” if he had not missed his Q3, and had not qualified in a distant tenth place.
Lewis Hamilton's weekend in Las Vegas was mixed. On the one hand, a superb comeback on Sunday from tenth to second place with an incredible pace but on the other this failed Q3 which can leave regrets.
Indeed, the Briton with 104 poles in F1 missed his two attempts during the last part of Qualifying, preventing him from starting better than tenth, while at the same time, his teammate placed his Mercedes in pole position.
Starting tenth on the grid, the seven-time World Champion finally moved up to second place, falling just 7.3s behind George Russell.
“If I had done my job [samedi]it would have been easy [dimanche]”, Hamilton said at the F1 microphone, just after finishing second in the Grand Prix. “But it doesn’t matter, I had fun coming back from tenth place and the team did a fantastic job.”
“We don't know why we were so fast this weekend. The car has never been better and I'm grateful to have helped get to this point.”

“If the car behaves like that in the next two races, I think we will be in a good position to challenge the guys in front,” continues Hamilton. “The championship is over, so now we have to fight for the best possible positions.”
Asked a little later at a press conference to know what his Grand Prix would have been without this missed Q3, Lewis Hamilton preferred to kick in.
“It doesn’t really matter, does it?” he replied. “At the end of the day, George did a great job, he did everything he was supposed to do and I'm happy for him and I'm just grateful to be able to come back and support the team with a double.”
