The Canadian is doing badly. How to recover from this?
A solution that could be on the table, if the Canadian wanted to do it, is to recall guys from Laval. But there are several aspects to consider when talking about recalls.
First, it must be remembered that CH prefers to see its young people win at the bottom than lose at the top.
Second, there must be space. If we take the attack, for example, we must remember that Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Patrik Laine are about to return to the game. Calling someone back is therefore not on the table, for better or for worse.
But thirdly, the guys from Laval must deserve it.
And on this subject, in his morning column today on BPM Sports, Anthony Marcotte said something that struck me when talking about the last days of the Laval Rocket.
The voice of Pickle Bowl Rocket believes that Joshua Roy is very involved and takes charge and that he does it “quite a bit more” than a guy like Logan Mailloux, for example.
Even if Roy and Mailloux do not play in the same position, comparing them is interesting. After all, both wanted to make their mark in Montreal following the camp and both started the season in Laval.
Both obviously have the potential to help the CH in the long term.
Mailloux, in his audition with the CH this season, showed that he was missing a little something to become a full-time NHL player. And to hear Anthony Marcotte say that he doesn’t take charge enough, that’s not a good thing.
If he did, he would have his place at the top. I have no doubt.
Roy is still at the bottom because the CH does not make room for him at the top (even though it would have been possible to do so in the last few weeks) and that must be some kind of message. But at least to hear that he’s doing well down there is good news: he understands things.
It will be up to Logan Mailloux to do the same thing now.
