Apple Intelligence would come to another flagship… faster than you think

Expected this fall, particularly on iPhones eligible for iOS 18, Apple Intelligence AI would also arrive on the Apple Vision Pro, and potentially faster than we would have thought: from 2025 according to certain sources.

Should we expect a relatively rapid deployment of Apple Intelligence on the Vision Pro. If we are to believe certain sources, this could actually come to fruition quite quickly, as early as 2025, and therefore only a few months after the arrival of this bouquet of features planned for this fall on iOS 18, but also iPadOS and macOS Sequoia.

It should be noted that, for the moment, Apple Intelligence has not yet been announced on visionOS, but this could change. We actually learn from Bloomberg that Apple would seriously consider deploying its AI on the software ecosystem of its mixed reality headset. And for good reason, the Apple Vision Pro already has a hardware configuration capable of supporting Apple Intelligence on a technical level. The headset actually has an M2 chip (the same as on the old MacBook Air, in particular) as well as 16 GB of RAM.

Apple Intelligence “soon” on the Vision Pro? It is indeed probable

Enough to manage Apple’s AI, not necessarily in optimal conditions compared to what, for example, the new M4 chips allow, but in any case without a hitch. These are also specifications higher than the minimum configuration required, on Mac, to take advantage of Apple Intelligence. Since the announcement of Apple Intelligence in June, during WWDC 2024, we know that a simple MacBook Air M1 from 2020 will be able to support these new functions based on artificial intelligence.

Despite the eminently virtual dimension of visionOS, which could put a spoke in Apple’s wheels in adapting Apple Intelligence, the system has the advantage of being derived from iPadOS. It is also to be presented by Apple since its beginnings as a powerful productivity tool. It is difficult in these conditions to imagine it lasting for long without Apple Intelligence, which seeks to boost user productivity.

Note, however, that Apple will shamelessly prioritize the implementation of Apple Intelligence on Macs, iPads and iPhones for a simple reason: the number of devices already in circulation. To enable its AI to be adopted on a large scale and as quickly as possible, the firm has every interest in placing it as a priority on macOS, iPadOS and iOS.

Logically, visionOS would therefore be served last, or at least among the last. We can even imagine that Apple will wait for the launch of a new mixed reality headset, more affordable, and therefore likely to sell better, to launch Apple Intelligence on visionOS. Only the future will tell us.
