This is the third and penultimate tax collection for this 2024 tax campaign on 2023 income. This Monday, November 25, 2024, the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) will make a withdrawal from the accounts of certain taxpayers .

We tell you more.

Depending on the total amount to be paid

Last August, all taxpayers received a tax notice. It is based on this amount that we can know whether or not we will be affected by a withdrawal from our bank account this Monday.

In fact, for major taxes, the Tax Office makes a maximum of four separate deductions, not counting the withholding tax. There was one on September 25, then another on Friday October 25. This Monday is the third.

This third levy takes place for all taxpayers who still have at least 300 euros to pay. If the amount is really large, a fourth withdrawal will take place on Friday December 27, 2024.

On bank statements, debits will be identifiable by the mention “general directorate of public finances” and by its wording “income tax balance 2023”, accompanied by the invoice number. There is nothing to doit is the French administration which takes care of collecting this money itself.

How to avoid penalties?

To avoid an (even more) hefty bill, “avoid penalties and remember to check that your bank details provided are up to date”, recommends the DGFiP, on its website.

“To avoid having an additional amount to pay in 2025, remember to declare, as quickly as possible, via the online service “Manage my withholding tax” or to your public finance center, “any change in personal situation (marriage, birth, etc.) or variation in income (promotion, retirement, etc.) in order to adapt your deductions accordingly,” continues the General Directorate of Public Finances.

And in the event that a taxpayer is in a delicate situation, there is always the possibility of requesting, free of charge, additional time. We explain how to do it in this article.
