Since the start of the second decade of June, the prices of domestic fuel oil have continued to increase. As the month of July begins this Monday, the upward trend is still ongoing.

For this Monday, July 1, ordinary fuel oil is displayed at 1.205 euros per liter by the specialized site prixfioul.fr. As for premium fuel oil, its average price is 1.224 euros per liter. On a purchase of 1,000 liters, prices at the start of the week are up 4 euros for ordinary fuel oil and 5 euros for premium fuel oil compared to Friday June 28.

For its part, the fioulreduc website indicates an average price of 1.194 euros per liter this Monday. Here too, the daily price is up a few euros compared to that seen at the end of the week. Finally, on fioulmarket.fr, domestic fuel oil is sold at an average of 1,214 euros for a purchase of 1,000 liters. On this sales platform, the daily price is up by almost 8 euros compared to that indicated on Friday.

Where to find the cheapest fuel oil?

According to the site fioulreduc.fr, which reviews the prices of domestic fuel oil in each region, it is Franche-Comté which offers the cheapest prices in France at the beginning of July, with 1,164 euros on average for a purchase of 1,000 liters. Conversely, it is Upper Normandy which offers the highest prices in the whole country, with 1,232 euros for 1,000 liters. For comparison, the difference in prices between Franche-Comté and Haute-Normandie is 68 euros on a purchase of 1,000 liters this Monday.

To understand this increase in domestic fuel prices in France, we must look at the oil markets. It turns out that since the beginning of June, oil prices have been on an upward trend after reaching particularly low levels.

This Monday, a barrel of Brent from the North Sea sold at 85.56 dollars. Regarding the barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), it is at 82.36 dollars per barrel. Compared to the beginning of last month, the price difference on a barrel is more than 8 dollars, both for Brent from the North Sea and for West Texas Intermediate.
