“Let the animosities of the past remain in the past”… Diallo goes to the front to avoid “chaos”

While Ligue 2 has its broadcaster, with beIN Sports recently securing the deal until 2029, Ligue 1 is still waiting. The championship is due to resume on 16 August, but viewers still don’t know on which channel they will be able to watch the enticing Brest-OM or the return to business of reigning champion PSG on the pitch at Le Havre.

“I am alongside the president of the LFP to support him and try to facilitate the negotiations he is conducting with the broadcasters,” Philippe Diallo confided Monday to RMC Sport. For the moment, no proposal from Canal+ or beIN Sports, so the League is refining its plan to launch its own channel.

“No visibility” for clubs

“We must not play the politics of the worst. We must ensure that the animosities of the past remain in the past and rebuild the links that could have been strained,” calls the president of the FFF, in reference to the tensions that have emerged between the LFP and traditional broadcasters, notably Canal+.

“I deplore this situation and I am worried about it for the clubs,” he continued. “They have no visibility on their future and see their ability to intervene in the transfer market frozen while waiting for visibility. We are in an unprecedented situation (…) I hope that a solution will be found.”

“I myself wanted to get involved in this matter discreetly to try to mend the ties between a certain number of broadcasters and the League, so that the interests of French football are preserved. It is not a good solution for anyone that French football is thrown into chaos. I call on all stakeholders to sit around a table to find a solution very quickly.” It is urgent.
