This Monday, July 1st, 23 firefighters from the Centre-Manche were mobilized to put out a fire in a dune massif in Gouville-sur-Mer. Two hectares of grass went up in smoke.

“Fire in the dunes at Gouville-sur-Mer. We are stuck, impossible to return to the campsite.” On Facebook, this resident of the Sénéquet campsite warned Internet users of the disaster that took place on Monday 1is July 2024 in the Centre-Manche: early in the evening, a fire broke out in the grass of the dune massif. The flames thus covered two hectares of vegetation.

Four forest fire intervention vehicles

Twenty-three firefighters from the Agon-Coutainville, Coutances, La Haye, Lessay and Saint-Lô emergency centres intervened to contain the fire. The latter was “extinguished by means of four forest fire intervention vehicles”, informs the Manche departmental fire and rescue service.

In the evening, the residents were able to return to the campsite.
