FRAC,
We postponed our visit to the FRAC for a long time to discover the exhibition The Olympic Games 1964-1980 by Raymond Depardon. But it is now a done deal, and we were not disappointed. The famous photographer excels at capturing the feat, the power and the emotions: the despair of Michel Jazy after his defeat in the 5,000 meters in Tokyo (1964), the brilliant joy of Colette Besson during her victory in the 400 meters in Mexico ( 1968), the legendary Olympic hat-trick of Jean-Claude Killy in Grenoble (1968) or the grace of Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci in Montreal (1976). So many iconic images, now engraved in the history of sport, and our collective memory. The prints, superbly highlighted, benefit in particular from the bright colors which adorn the walls of the exhibition, bringing a real supplement to the whole. The exhibition is on display until early January 2025, an opportunity not to be missed for sports and photography enthusiasts.
“A picture is worth a thousand words.” This section at Alter1fo, “1 day, 1 photo” will not go against the quote from Confucius since it leaves an important place for snapshots of life frozen by the cameras and the gaze of our editors.
