Young children have a narrow escape after accidentally lighting a fire with a candle in a building on rue Jean-Durand in Sainte-Foy.
According to details reported by the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), the fire was caused, in the early afternoon, by a child who lit a candle in his room while his father was taking a nap. . The fire would have spread “into the doggies”.

The father was awakened and took the children out of the home. The smoke then spread throughout the building.
The home was evacuated and firefighters from Quebec City went to the site to bring the fire under control.

No injuries
“The reason why we reached the second alarm is because it is a large building with a lot of housing,” explains the SPVQ. “It was more for prevention.”

The father was a little inconvenienced by the smoke, but an examination was carried out on site and he did not need to be transported to hospital.
