Skid Row looking for its new singer: “We’re taking our time”

Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan has confirmed that the band is currently auditioning new vocalists to replace Erik Grönwall, while also exploring one-off collaborations with other famous artists.

In search of the ideal voice

In an interview with Loudwire NightsRachel Bolan has revealed that Skid Row is in the middle of auditions to find a new permanent singer. According to him: “We are actively auditioning vocalists at the moment. We’ve seen some good candidates, and we’re still expecting more auditions in November.”

Grönwall, who joined the group in 2022, left Skid Row this year due to health issues. Immunocompromised after a battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, he could no longer tour.

Temporary collaborations

While waiting to finalize their choice, Skid Row experimented with collaborations with renowned artists. Lzzy Hale, lead singer of Halestorm, joined the band for four shows earlier this year. The widely applauded experience could be repeated. Bolan explained: “We might do more celebrity collaborations, because some of our famous friends are telling us, 'I liked what Lzzy did. I want to do the same.' And we say, 'OK, let's try.'”

These collaborations will be based on the availability of the guest artists, and will serve to maintain the live energy of the group while continuing the auditions.

No return with Sebastian Bach

Asked several times about a possible reunion with Sebastian Bach, former singer of the group, Bolan was clear: “We don’t want to revisit this part of our history.”

Snake Sabo, guitarist of the group, also said last May: “That’s not going to happen. It’s not a question of money, but of happiness and cohesion in our group.”

New songs in preparation

Despite these changes, Skid Row continues to work on new compositions. Bolan confirmed that he writes whenever he can, sometimes drawing inspiration from simple everyday moments to develop new musical ideas.
