Curtain raiser: the hopes of Cahors Rugby won 23 to 11.
Deprived of many starters, the Cadurciens did not tremble when it came to securing their eighth victory in nine days of the championship.
Against a Causse-Vézère Rugby team that came with certain intentions, the “Ciel et Blanc” won with a score of 27 to 10 and showed essential moral qualities.
But everything was not simple because if the intentions were there, the finish was less so. We will have to wait for an interception from Théo Pradayrol to see the locals take the lead at the break (7 to 3).
Outscored from the restart by a Corrézian try scored by Hellebois, the Lotois regularly knew how to create danger without managing to break. If Thibaut Girbes was at the conclusion of a highlight on the line in the 51st (14-10), the rest was the work of Adrien Bonnet who passed two penalties (20-10).
Sixteen players absent
The visitors, blocked on carried balls, were forced to expose themselves more to the delight of the Cadurcians, who on a recovery ball sent Théo Pradayrol to fold the score.
27 to 10, even diminished and sometimes lacking collective benchmarks, the Cadurcians showed the solidity of their group.
Vincent Debaye (co-trainer): “Very happy and a lot of pride for this group which showed an impeccable state of mind. We were missing no less than sixteen players and both teams won. We managed to weather the worst of the storm and now we will try to finish 2024 in style.”
Clément Lefort (third row): “The first period was not easy with a little too much indiscipline. After our test conceded at the restart we did not demobilize. We knew how to play and set the pace. Physically we felt very good and we managed to go for this victory with our hearts.”
Théo Pradayrol (scrum half): “This victory took a long time to take shape and the try we conceded at the start of the second half put us in a difficult situation. But everyone played their rugby which proves the richness of the group.”
Now for a weekend of rest before a trip to Bergerac.
The hopeful team, also missing many elements, won with a score of 23 to 11 with two tries by Bastien Cousteau and Baptiste Mouchard.
