In 2017, Isabelle Fouillot lost her daughter, Alexia Daval, murdered by her husband. A drama that she has not forgotten and about which she launched a crucial appeal in “Le Parisien” against violence against women this Sunday, November 24.

Since October 28, 2017, Isabelle Fouillot has honored the memory of her daughter, Alexia Daval, by committing to women’s rights. Murdered by her husband, Jonathann Daval, Alexia Daval was one of the 130 women victims of femicide seven years ago. A number that Isabelle Fouillot would like to see decrease, but above all publicize, being indignant at the lack of media coverage that women victims of violence receive. Thus, in Le Parisien this Sunday, November 24, she spoke to launch an appeal to the major French media so that they too mobilize every November 25, the international day to combat violence against women.

“With each new tragedy, I become enraged because I know that this pain which I didn’t even know could exist, a new family will experience it too. We cannot imagine the collateral damage: these are brothers, sisters, children, uncles, aunts from whom a loved one is taken away. It is lifelong pain explained Isabelle Fouillot, before continuing: “I appeal to all the media. We must make an impression.” Thus, she suggests that “each year, on November 25, television channels publish a banner displaying the name and age of the victims on the occasion of the Day to Combat Violence Against Women.” And to conclude: “They had a life, a family. They are not numbers.”

Alexia Daval, this “vide abyssal” that his disappearance caused

Died in 2017, Alexia Daval is today an emblematic figure in the fight against femicide, but for those around her, she was above all a loved one. Member of an amputee family since her death, Alexia Daval is still present in the minds of her parents, especially her mother, who remains as emotional as ever when she talks about her daily life without her. “Talking about Alexia keeps me on my feet”she confided to our colleagues while crying. “The years go by and we miss her more and more, she leaves an abysmal void. Every day we have to find the strength to face it”admitted Isabelle Fouillot, who continues to keep the memory of her daughter alive through her commitment.
