In 2006, the third part of the Bronzés saga was released, Les Bronzés 3: Friends for Liferebroadcast this Sunday evening on TF1. Despite its box-office success, this film did not win over all the members of the Splendid, including one of the troupe’s leading actors.
If there is one troupe that will forever mark French cinema, it is le Splendid with Christian Clavier, Gérard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte, Michel Blanc, Josiane Balasko, Marie-Anne Chazel and Bruno Moynot. All of them made their mark with the three parts of Les Bronzés, namely The Bronzed in 1978, Tanned people go skiing in 1979 and Les Bronzés 3: friends for life in 2006. Despite a box office success with 10 million admissions, this film was a critical failure. “10 million failures, I want more“joked Gérard Jugnot in the columns of Paris Match last April. The actor had also played a scene with his son Arthur Jugnot which announced the homosexuality of his character: “It’s even one of the biggest laughs of our lives. For him, finding himself playing in front of them (members of the Splendid)it was crazy.” And Thierry Lhermitte added: “Et I claim this film, no matter how many admissions it has. It was cool to see what our characters had become, to show that they were still just as cowardly in the face of social misery. A bit like everyone else, right?”
The Bronzed 3: Michel Blanc solely responsible for the critical failure of the film?
If Gérard Jugnot and Thierry Lhermitte seem quite won over by the experience of Bronzed 3, One, on the other hand, does not wish to try the experiment again: Michel Blanc.. The essential Jean-Claude Dusse. “Doing things together, yes, but not The Bronzed. We no longer know how to do this humor. It was almost fifty years ago, the world has evolved.” he declared to Paris Match. The 72-year-old actor even held himself responsible for the critical failure of the third installment of the Tanned : “It’s not what we’ve done besthe estimated. Finally, what I did best. I find myself absent. And this failure is totally my fault. I didn’t want to make this film and I didn’t want them to make it without me“, he confessed.
A leading actress of the Splendid has bad memories of the Bronzed 3
If Michel Blanc is still on good terms with the actors of the Splendid troupe, another actress has distanced herself from the troupe: Dominique Lavanant. The 80-year-old actress had participated in three parts of the Tanned. She played the role of Christiane. In an interview with France Evening In 2011, Dominique Lavanant revealed that the film Les Bronzés 3: Friends for Life had been his “worst filming memory” : “It was so horrible that I cried. In the eyes of the Splendid elders, I was nothing. Just a beginner in front of old friends,” she had expressed.
