Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital announced on Tuesday the death of Liora Argmani, mother of Noa, one of the hostages recently freed from Gaza. Aged 61, Liora had been battling terminal brain cancer. She was able to spend her final days surrounded by her daughter Noa and her close family, fulfilling her dearest wish.
In the preceding months, Liora had tirelessly advocated for her daughter, making calls to world leaders and giving numerous interviews, until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Her personal fight against the disease had been coupled with a fierce struggle for the release of Noa, who had been held captive by Hamas since the attack of October 7, 2023.
Noa Argmani, whose abduction on October 7 was filmed and widely broadcast, was finally released on June 8, 2024, during “Operation Arnon.” This rescue operation in Nuseirat, Gaza Strip, also resulted in the release of Almog Meir Jean, Andre Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv.
Noah’s release and reunion with her dying mother sparked strong emotion in Israel and around the world.
