On the occasion of Italy’s victory against Australia in the semi‐finals of the Davis Cup on Saturday in Malaga, Alex de Minaur was beaten by Jannik Sinner for the ninth time in as many confrontations (6−3, 6 –4), and the third time in 2024.

“It is never easy to face the world number 1. Sinner plays with a lot of confidence, it’s not like he won a million games this year for no reason. Facing Jannik is like trying to solve a puzzle that few people have been able to solve. His ball speed and consistency mean he never loses concentration during the match. If you want to beat him, you have to play your best tennis, especially in the important points: you have to take the upper hand, which he does.”explained on the 9the world at a press conference.
