A fire broke out in a house located in the town of the commune of Valentine, located south of Saint-Gaudens (Haute-Garonne). The firefighters were called on the evening of this Saturday, November 23, 2024, around 9:30 p.m.
Six people evacuated
The house affected by the flames is divided “into several apartments”, explains the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Haute-Garonne (SDIS 31). The fire started in a room located on the 2nd floor. Residents were evacuated, either six people in total.
A young woman hospitalized
23 firefighters, aided by a water hose, and five emergency vehicles were mobilized to the scene. Around 10 p.m., the fire was under control. It “did not spread to the rest of the building”, adds the SDIS.
The occupant of the room, a 16-year-old woman, who had smoke inhalation, was treated. She was transported to an area hospital. The occupants of the affected apartment were relocated by relatives.
