A historic motorsport monument, the Macau Grand Prix returns this weekend. For the occasion, this 2024 edition has been somewhat modified by the organizers. If the FIA GT World Cup is still there, this is no longer the case for Formula 3, replaced by the Regional Formula, under the name “FIA Regional Formula World Cup”.
A decision taken for “ making the event even more accessible than ever, opening it up to a wide range of drivers competing regionally. » This had an impact on the field with the absence of certain regular teams such as Trident, Rodin Motorsport (formerly Carlin) or Hitech GP. However, it allowed greater internalization of the paddock with the presence of Japanese teams like TOM’S Formula or TGM Grand Prix, but also from Oceania like Evans GP. On the French side, R-ace GP, Saintéloc Racing and ART Grand Prix will represent France.
In GT, the plateau is very high with the participation of many scores of the category: Jules Gounon, Daniel Juncadella, Edoardo Mortara, Laurens Vanthoor, Raffaele Marciello or Sheldon Van der Linde.
As for the program, hostilities for this 2024 Macau Grand Prix will begin on Thursday with the first free practice sessions. As a reminder, the format of the two World Cups is always composed of a qualifying session before a qualifying race the next day and the main race on Sunday.
