Deprived of competition since November 10 and the victory against Seyssinet (1-0), the Reserve group was keen to improve the three points which had given them a breath of fresh air in the standings.

But Razik Nedder's players struggled to get into their match and conceded the opener at the very start of the match through Hugo Di Piazza (Espaly 1-0 ASSE, 6e). Suffering during the first twenty minutes, the Greens regained control of the match and Kenzo Kies offered his team the equalizer (Espaly 1-1 ASSE, 22e) but the locals regained the advantage at the end of the first half (Espaly 2-1 ASSE, 40e).

After the break, Razik Nedder's players showed their advantage even if Espaly had the opportunity to drive the point home on the counterattack. Saint-Etienne's domination ended with a goal from Ayman Aiki in the very last minutes of the match allowing the Greens to glean a precious point (Espaly 2-2 ASSE, 90e).

« We made two big gifts out of the two goals conceded and we were in difficulty physically. I found us tender in this type of match where the conditions do not allow us to keep the ball alive. There was a maturity issue today. On the starting eleven, the oldest are from 2004, with players from 2007 returning. It has its limits in these coal matches. We won this draw which we will have to improve at home in two weeks with the return of the selection of Jebryl Sarahoui and the suspension of Kevin Pedro and other valuable players for our team. » commented Razik Nedder after the meeting.
