After a first quarter of an hour dominated by the locals, Olivier Jurine's players opened the scoring following a good split on the right side and a cross from T. Garcin on the head of H. Derkum. A goal which warmed up the fifty spectators present and launched the match. The pace dropped and the visitors proved dangerous on a few set pieces that were well repelled by the defense led by T. Durousset. The first period ended with sterile domination by Montbrison.
Returning from the locker room, Craponne got his foot back on the ball and was quick to create situations thanks to the freshness of K. Brault, who came on the field a few minutes earlier, who had a great opportunity but lost his face to face to face with the guard.
