ASSE- 1-0

Goals: Bouchouari (47th) for ASSE

Thanks to a flash from Bouchouari, Saint-Etienne offered itself the shock of the bottom of the table against Montpellier. A 1-0 success which allows the Greens to gain three places in the standings.

A match that matters more than the others. Saint-Etienne (16th) and Montpellier (18th) really needed the three points this evening. However, this desire quickly turned into paralysis. The first period was disappointing with two teams tense and above all clumsy. Montpellier still created more serious situations including a penalty, logically refused by the VAR after a regular tackle by Abdelhamid on Savanier.

It took a flash to break the deadlock in this match and it was Benjamin Bouchouari who was the author. After a good start to the second half by the Greens, the young Stéphanois scored with a superb volley from outside the area. A very fragile one-goal lead for Saint-Etienne. 10 minutes later, the referee whistled a new penalty for MHSC. However, after viewing the VAR, he judged that Al-Tamari was simulating. Montpellier pushed again but the great clumsiness of the Hérault attackers saved the Greens. Khazri notably missed a ready goal in the middle. 1-0, Sainté gives itself some air and takes 13th place, 6 points ahead of bottom Montpellier.
