Despite being released in 2015, The Witcher 3 has nothing to be ashamed of compared to more recent games from a graphical and technical point of view. Its next-gen update, bringing it up to date on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, is partly the reason. But its PC version can go even further with the upcoming arrival of a feature that is very popular on this platform.
The Witcher 3 soon to be even more next-gen than ever
As with Cyberpunk 2077 and so many other titles, The Witcher 3 can count on the love of the community to stay up to date, despite its nine years. While the official next-gen update deployed by CD Projekt RED has already done it a lot of good, it is thanks to the work of modders that the masterpiece of the Polish studio can fully make much more recent games pale in comparison. One of the most popular mods in this sense is HD Reworked Project by Halk Hogan. He has been working for months to rework absolutely all the textures of the game to give them a truly next-gen appearance.
His passionate hard work is visibly nearing completion, with the modder announcing that the highly anticipated The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project Next-Gen will be released in its final version later this year. In the meantime, Halk Hogan has shared the video below to show us the pretty graphic slap that is coming. A titanic job that commands respect, being carried out by a single person.
Since May 21, the life of The Witcher 3 modders has also been greatly facilitated. Long requested, the official mod editor called REDKit has arrived on this date. This offers full access to the game’s assets for budding creators. We have also very quickly seen very promising first drafts in this sense. This is particularly the case with the beginning of an unofficial Remake of the first opus, while waiting for its official version on the Unreal Engine 5, at a date still undetermined. A good way also to wait for a certain and very closely watched The Witcher 4, also developed on the robust Epic Games engine.
