From the outside, one cannot imagine the architectural gems and havens of greenery hidden behind the high walls of Marseille. Adjoining the town hall of the 6th and 8th arrondissements, in the heart of Monticelli Square, a former little piece of England is about to open to the public. Built in 1882 by an admiral of Breton origin, the Monticelli pavilion was later bought by the Crown to become the consular residence. When it was sold in 1998 to a Marseille surgeon, the Crown’s personal notary came to him to affix the royal seal to the deed of sale.

Another change of ownership 18 months ago. The independent real estate company specializing in commercial real estate, Holfim, acquired it to make it its headquarters.I am very attached to Marseille“, says Jérôme Bennarrouche, president of this company. The Marseillais decides to occupy the two upper levels – where around thirty people will work – and to entrust the operation of the ground floor (140 m² spread over three rooms) and the exteriors (900 m²) to HCB Group. Chaired by Jean-David Cohen, this group already owns several establishments and reception areas in Marseille, including the restaurants Dalloyau at the Terrasses du Port, Le Palais 1860 at the Palais de la Bourse, le 29 at the La Marseillaise tower and Pure Braise at the Domaine de la Bauquière in Allauch. But originally, HCB Group was born from its catering business.

The Monticelli Pavilion is therefore preparing to write a new page in its history. After several months of development work and major renovations, the venue is preparing to host private events for professionals and individuals (weddings, galas, seminars, etc.) as well as a monthly cultural and gastronomic program – still being developed – open to all (brunch, etc.).There was a lack of this type of place in Marseille.“, the two businessmen emphasize.

This idea of opening came to Jérôme Bennarrouche and his wife, because they got married in the neighboring town hall of 6-8.We did a little something in the park, it was very nice but quick“, they confide. The future newlyweds will only have to take a few steps to enjoy their first evening together.
