Almost seven years after his death, Johnny Hallyday continues to surprise us. As revealed by BFMTV, Universal will officially release this Friday a new track by the rocker, entitled “Il peut être roulade”. The song, which dates from 1968, was written by Georgette Lemaire, famous in the 1960s and 1970s thanks to the titles “Je ne sais pas” and “You were beautiful, ma’am.” But it is actually an adaptation of an Anglo-Saxon piece composed by Mick Jones and Tommy Brown.

The text of “We must roll” speaks in particular of the world of entertainment and its behind the scenes, emphasizing the weariness caused by touring from city to city. Themes which had a very special meaning for the Johnny Hallyday of the time, who performed concerts and films after his time in the army. When it was found, the song had not been mixed with the idol's vocals, so Universal had to come up with the arrangements, deciding to opt for a multitude of stereo effects.
A musical mass on December 5
This is not the first time that unreleased Johnny Hallyday material has resurfaced. In November 2023, fans were able to discover for the first time “Un cri”, a piece recorded in February 2017 in Los Angeles, which was initially intended to be included on the record My country is love. The star's complete songs revisited in symphonic form, released last year, also included a new title, called Burn my heart. In December 2022, his widow Laeticia Hallyday assured that other unpublished material would be revealed little by little.
Fans of the artist will be spoiled in the coming weeks. On December 5, for the seven years of his death, a musical mass will be organized by his motorcycle club at the Madeleine church, in Paris. The next day, the public will be able to get their hands on the album of a concert he gave at the Eiffel Tower in 2011, and which includes another unreleased piece, Self-portrait. Finally, a SuperDeluxe CD box set including all of Johnny Hallyday's musical news in 1968 will be released on December 13.
