Hellfest began this Thursday, June 27, 2024. Thousands of festival-goers passed through the gates of hell.
And already, several events are already engraved in the history of the festival.
Back on three highlights, three slaps received during this first day.
A selection obviously 100 % subjective, 0 % exhaustive.
1. Le wall of death de Slaughter to Prevail
The band had launched a challenge on social media, calling on fans to gather at their concert to the largest Wall of Death in the world. Has the record been broken? Not sure that the event will bury the memory of the Wall of Death in honor of Dagoba in the same festival a few years earlier. Nevertheless: Slaughter to Prevail hit hard for the start of the festival, taking the audience with him into his infernal saraband. Enough to get straight to the heart of the matter.
2. The return of the King
We expected a lot, we were not disappointed. The former guitarist of the late Slayer made his return to Hellfest to defend his solo project. And Kerry King ticked all the boxes, winning over with new riffs, but whose sound fooled no one. Slayeresque as hell. And when the group covered the legendary “Raining Blood”, the hairs of more than one metalhead stood up.
3. A cradle of filth
As for slaps, we were served in the evening. We could have cited you All of them Witcheson the Valley, the avant-garde experience of Shinning or the still intact virtuosity of Megadeth.
We choose to highlight the service of Cradle of Filth. A Dantesque concert that shows that the group reigns supreme over Black Metal. Unless Dimmu Borgir comes to win the title on Sunday evening… Bets are open
