The summary of SQ1
It’s the return of sprint qualifying in Spielberg! The drivers had 12 minutes on medium tyres to qualify for the second session. After the first pass, Lewis Hamilton was in danger after hitting the gravel. Max Verstappen held the lead ahead of George Russell and Carlos Sainz.
On the second pass, the Briton got out of trouble by eight hundredths (0.080) but he will be there for SQ2, just like Esteban Ocon (9th) and Pierre Gasly (11th). Alex Albon finished 19th and went out before his teammate Logan Sargeant, a first for the American.
