The Pentapichichi was honored with a special award for his successful career as a footballer, positioning him as one of the greatest icons of Mexican sport.

This Tuesday, November 19, the first edition of the Mexico Victory Prize was held in an event that will be memorable for the recognition of the greatest Mexican athletes of the past and present.

The event, organized by Ismerely in Mexico City, brought together prominent figures of Mexican sport who have transcended borders, thanks to their talents that have propelled them to the international stage.

A multitude of disciplines were recognized at this awards ceremony, including football, boxing, diving, flag football, artistic swimming, wrestling, racquetball, figure skating, archery arc, among others.

Many athletes from each of the different sports gathered at the gala, motivated to win one of the prizes covering 13 different categories.

Icons such as Hugo Sánchez, Andrés Guardado and Joaquín Beltrán, as well as contemporary figures such as Igor Lichnovsky, Martín Anselmi and Jana Gutiérrez, were present to represent national football.

Additionally, representatives of Mexican Olympic sports such as Alejandra Orozco, Gabriela Agúndez, Osmar Olvera, Juan Celaya, Ana Vázquez and members of the Mexican artistic swimming team were also present.

Other notable athletes such as Paola Longoria, Diana Flores, Rebeca Landa and Donovan Carrillo also attended the awards ceremony.

In the field of wrestling, highly recognized gladiators like Místico, Alberto El Patrón and Latin Lover have made their presence felt, testifying to their successful careers.

The national athletes were accompanied by media personalities such as José Ramón Fernández, Enrique Burak, Fernando Schwartz, Francisco Javier González, Odin Ciani, Jorge Eduardo Sánchez and Enrique Garay.

Participants in the Victory Mexico 2024 Prize include officials such as María José Alcalá, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM); Mauricio Sulaimán, president of the World Boxing Council (WBC); Horacio de la Vega, president of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB); and Raúl Zárraga, director of the National Association (NBA) in Mexico.

All these Mexican sports stars gathered in Mexico City for the awards ceremony, which recognizes competitive achievements and the social and cultural impact they generate in society.

Although there are 13 categories in the first edition of the Mexico Victory Prize, Hugo Sánchez stole the show by receiving the Legend Prize, recognized as the best athlete in our country.

The Pentapichichi delivered a moving message upon receiving the award, reflecting on the challenges he overcame to transcend as a footballer.

The Real Madrid legend also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to his parents for their support since his professional debut and spoke with a tight voice about the recent death of Fernando ‘Toro’ Valenzuela, with whom he had the privilege of representing Mexico on the international stage, alongside Julio César Chávez.
