RN MP Roger Chudeau believes that “ministerial positions should be occupied by Franco-French people”

On BFMTV this Thursday, June 27, RN deputy Roger Chudeau affirmed that a binational Frenchman should not be appointed minister, taking the example of Najat Vallaud-Belkacem and citing a “problem of dual loyalty”. A “personal opinion” which does not bind his party, according to him.

“A personal opinion”, but comments that shock his opponents. While the RN wants to “prevent” French people who also have another nationality to occupy “extremely sensitive jobs” In the event of victory in the legislative elections, the outgoing MP Roger Chudeau estimated on Thursday June 27 on BFMTV that the measure should also apply to ministers.

“Ministerial positions must be held by Franco-French people, period,” he said on our airwaves. “What applies to a senior civil servant must apply to a minister.”

He then took the example of Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, former Minister of National Education who has dual French-Moroccan nationality. “I think it was a mistake and it is not a good thing for the Republic,” he commented, affirming that the minister wanted to allow the teaching of Arabic in primary schools. In fact, the former minister wanted to encourage the learning of a foreign language from CP, not necessarily Arabic.

“There is a problem of dual loyalty at a given moment,” said the one representing himself in the second constituency of Loir-et-Cher.

“Shame to the end”

“Simple question for Renaissance candidates: do you support this?” asked Najat Vallaud-Belkacem on X, calling on them to withdraw if they come in third position during the first round of the legislative elections this Sunday, June 30. Two days before the election, the presidential camp has still not given voting instructions and has not called for a Republican withdrawal or to “block” the National Rally.

“Shame to the end,” Manuel Bompard, coordinator of La France insoumise, also denounced on X. “For the National Rally, there are therefore 3.3 million French sub-citizens,” he said.

Less than twenty minutes after his appearance on air, Roger Chudeau spoke out on social media. “The position I expressed about Najat Vallaud-Belkacem on the BFMTV set is a strictly personal opinion, and in no way commits the National Rally,” he wrote.

A “list of extremely sensitive jobs”

For several days, Jordan Bardella’s party has been criticized for its proposal to ban certain “sensitive” positions from dual nationals. On BFMTV this Thursday, June 27, Sébastien Chenu mentioned a “list of jobs, perhaps 50, which are extremely sensitive jobs for the management of intelligence services, etc.”

Sébastien Chenu spoke of possible “pressures, even perhaps emotional, family pressures”, for positions “in security and intelligence”.

In January, the RN had however filed a Law proposition which provided for the possibility of prohibiting access to jobs in public administrations and companies to French people with the nationality of another State. “3.3 million French people could tomorrow find themselves prohibited from accessing employment”, according to CFDT estimates.
