Currently in 15th position in the Vendée Globe, skipper Damien Seguin reveals behind the scenes of life aboard his Imoca Groupe Apicil, in particular his daily medical routine which consists of taking his constants to take stock of his state of health. Data which should ultimately improve the lives of sailors during solo trips around the world.

“I'm going to show you how I take my different constants which I then send. » In a video published this Wednesday, November 20, Damien Seguin (Apicil Group) presents part of his life aboard his Imoca in the Vendée Globe.

Take your blood pressure, your temperature…

The skipper, born without a left hand, explains that he fills out a questionnaire every day to take stock of his state of health. “It happens on the computer with a questionnaire. I have to take certain constants, such as saturation level, pulse, blood pressure, tympanic temperature taken directly in the ear, he lists. About 24 questions, and it takes me between 8 and 10 minutes. Every morning I do this before or after my weather forecast. »

In another video, Damien Seguin adds that his boat is also equipped with environmental sensors which measure, on board, brightness, temperature, noise, etc. The data is then processed on land. “I have no feedback because it is prohibited by the regulations, but in the long term this will allow us to have data on how the skippers complete this round the world trip, and in the future to be able to do it in better health . »
