The budget deficit increased over the first ten months of the current year. It reached 47.3 billion DH at the end of October 2024, compared to 37.5 billion DH in the same period a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
This development was marked by a good performance in revenues (+36.7 billion DH), particularly tax revenues, which was however attenuated by the increase in overall expenditure (+46.6 billion DH), in particular in relation to the support provided to targeted populations within the framework of the social protection program and the fund for managing the effects of the Al-Haouz earthquake, explains the ministry in its document on the Situation of Treasury Expenses and Resources (SCRT) .
Revenue recorded, on a net basis of tax reimbursements, reliefs and refunds, an achievement rate of 85.6% compared to the forecasts of the finance law (LF) and an increase of 36.7 billion DH (+ 14.4%) compared to the end of October 2023, underlines the ministry.
Concerning ordinary expenditure, they amount to 256.9 billion DH, recording an execution rate of 83.7% and an increase of 14.8 billion DH compared to the end of October 2023. This development is mainly attributable to the increase in expenditure on goods and services of 16.6 billion DH and, to a lesser extent, the increase in interest on the debt of 1.4 billion DH, underlines the MEF.
