The events took place on the night of Tuesday June 25 to Wednesday June 26. According to information from France Bleu Vaucluse, in the district of Montfavet in Avignon (Vaucluse), a criminal fire was opened in the Arto bakery around 1:30 a.m.

The establishment has been completely trashed in the night. And what was the astonishment of the teams when they discovered the walls of the ground floor covered inracist and homophobic inscriptions.

An open investigation

In addition to the insults, the business was partly destroyed by fire, so a investigation police was quickly opened.

According to the first elements, the police noted seven different fire starts. Which leaves no more doubt about criminal origin of the fire.

The bakery’s apprentice, a young man of Malian originwas directly targeted by the racist inscriptions discovered inside the business.
