A cold case from 1969 about to be solved? On March 25, 1969, Mary Kay Heese, 17, went to drink hot chocolate with her high school friends after sports class and then headed home to Wahoo, Nebraska, United States. . She was last seen walking six blocks from her home, but the teen never showed up for dinner. She was found dead in a ditch along a road five kilometers from her home.
The autopsy revealed that Mary Kay Heese died from a dozen stab wounds to the stomach and the investigation determined that the young girl had gotten into the car of someone she knew. Along the way, she allegedly tried to escape before being “pursued, overpowered and murdered”. But by whom? In the years since the crime, police have questioned more than 700 suspects. In vain. Before finally closing the case in 2009.
Arrested 55 years after the events
Last September, 55 years after the events, the body of Mary Kay Heese was finally exhumed and this Monday, November 18, the prosecutor of Saunders County, Nebraska, announced that she had arrested a man suspected of her murder, reports Kearney Hub. Joseph A. Ambroz, 77, was taken into custody, but it is not yet known what led to his whereabouts and the man has not yet made any statement.
