Euro 2024: the surprising ranking of scorers after the first round

Who could have predicted this ranking of scorers before the start of Euro 2024? While the group stage reached its end this Wednesday evening, the hierarchy of the best European gunners only showed nice surprises at the forefront. Starting with the top scorer of this Euro: the Georgian Georges Mikautadze.

With three goals scored including two penalties (in addition to an assist), the FC Metz striker sits at the top of the scorers’ rankings since the start of the competition. The 23-year-old striker scored in each of Georgia’s three matches, and is one of the great architects of the historic qualification of Willy Sagnol’s selection.

Mbappé still favorite of bookmakers

Behind him, the ranking is just as surprising. No Kylian Mbappé or Harry Kane both stuck on a small achievement. Even less Cristiano Ronaldo who concluded for the first time in his career a group stage of a major international competition (Euro, World Cup) without scoring.

In second place, we find 5 players having scored 2 goals. These are the two Germans Niclas Füllkrug and Jamal Musiala, the Dutchman Cody Gakpo, the Romanian Razvan Marin and the Slovakian Ivan Schranz. Everyone will have the opportunity to improve their total during the round of 16 which begins this Saturday. On the betting side, Kylian Mbappé is still the bookmakers’ favorite ahead of Harry Kane.
