Les Restos du Cœur are launching their 40th winter campaign today. This year, the focus is on babies and single-parent families who are highly impacted by inflation. The regional coordinator of the association is the guest of Bleu .

The 40th Restos du Cœur campaign begins this Tuesday, November 19. France Bleu, official partner of Restos, reveals that this year, the association is strengthening its support for single-parent families and early childhood. Sylvie Cadic, the coordinator of Restos en Occitanie, is the guest of France Bleu Occitanie this Wednesday.

Breaking the inheritance of poverty

Several decades ago, Sylvie Cadic participated in the association forum at her home in Carmaux (Tarn), and came across a sign looking for volunteers for the Restos du Cœur Bébés. Today, in Occitanie, the association helps 110,000 peopleessentially those most in distress. “Everyone can show up, only the food allocation is subject to means conditions. We also take into account the poor housing situation“, explains the Tarnaise. The criteria have this year been broadened for single-parent families who represent 23% of beneficiaries, especially families with children under three years old.Getting a family out of poverty takes six generations. If we don’t help the children today, we will find them later in restaurants as welcomed people.” argues Sylvie Cadic. The association provides food aid, but points out that it also provides personal assistance services for job searches in particular (writing a CV, self-esteem), beauty treatments (hairdressing) and even homework help.

The Restaurants have a large territorial network with many antennas with volunteers present.
