Great news for PlayStation Portal, which is receiving a major update that could change everything. Enough to make the console much more interesting in the future!
Sony strikes a big blow with a major update for its PlayStation Portal. Starting today, this portable console can do much more than stream games from your PS5 via Wi-Fi. Thanks to a new feature, the console becomes even more interesting. We tell you everything you need to know on the subject.
A big new feature on PlayStation Portal
Thus, it is now possible to play PS5 titles directly from the PlayStation Plus catalog. This new addition to PlayStation Portal, available in beta, is reserved for subscribers PlayStation Plus Premium. The idea? Allowing you to enjoy your PS5 games without being tethered to your console. A solid Internet connection is still essential: allow at least 7 Mbps for 720p and 13 Mbps for 1080p.
With this feature, Sony offers a more nomadic experience. No more staying in the same room as your PS5. You can play quietly in another room, or even elsewhere, as long as you have a good connection.
Limits to keep in mind
However, not everything is perfect. This beta version does not yet support certain elements appreciated by players, such as group voice chatgame trials or 3D audio. Additionally, only PS5 games are compatible at the moment. PS4 or PS3 games are not yet accessible via cloud streaming.
Another constraint: child accounts. If you share your Portal with the youngest in the house, be aware that they will not be able to take advantage of this new feature. This update is available today in many countries, including France, the United Statesand a large part of Europe. With this international launch, Sony shows that it is aiming big and wants to reach a varied audience.
This update doesn't stop at cloud gaming. Sony has also thought about the little details that make the difference. You can now adjust the volume to lower levels. Useful if you play late at night or in a quiet environment. As a bonus, Settings for PlayStation Link compatible devices are now accessible directly from your Portal settings.
