A quickly controlled fire heavily damaged a heavy truck traveling on Highway 530 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, but above all it caused a long traffic jam at lunchtime on Wednesday.

“As soon as we arrived, with the guard team of around ten firefighters, we sprayed water and it took less than thirty minutes to contain. It created a traffic jam, but now people can pass, even if there is only one lane open,” indicates division head Christian Poulin, of the Salaberry-de fire safety service. -Valleyfield.

The truck’s cabin was charred by the heat of the flames, but fortunately, the trucker had time to escape from his vehicle before the destructive element burned the entire mechanical compartment of the machine. “The truck driver noticed that the fire was raging in the engine and he took the time to go to the shoulder and call 911,” he adds.

After a difficult rush hour for people who tried to take the Larocque bridge earlier in the morning, the day on the roads of Valleyfield tested the patience of motorists.
