Bose quality in Ultra mode
Headphone number 1 from Bose, the QuietComfort Ultra has revised its copy in terms of design to offer comfort worthy of its selling price. We find the lines of the QC 45 and the Headphones 700 at the level of the shells and the headband, but with noble and solid materials, a controlled weight of 250 g and firm, tight and very comfortable ear cushions. Above all, this helmet is more ergonomic now that it is folding. Adjusting the headband requires a little firmness and that’s a good thing so that it doesn’t slide around on its own.
According to the American manufacturer, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra has a battery life of 24 hours and 18 hours with active noise reduction. During our test, the headphones were used with the volume at 70% with the noise reduction at maximum and still managed to last 31 hours before falling flat, we are well beyond what is advertised by Bose. As for recharging, you have to wait within 2h30 for the battery to go from 0 to 100% and 15 minutes of recharging is enough to recover two hours of autonomy.
Good sound, and even very good sound!
Shy, Bose does not communicate the size of the transducers of its QC Ultra, but specifies that Bluetooth, available in multipoint, supports SBC, AAC codecs and aptX Adaptive. The Bose QC Ultra is also one of the rare headphones to be Snapdragon Sound certified by Qualcomm. In terms of sound, Bose does not go off the beaten track by offering a sound signature focused on the bass, which is too generous, and the treble is a little aside. But a quick twist in the EQ fixes that in a jiffy.
For active noise reduction, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra offers us top-notch performance while the passive isolation is already excellent on its own. The outward-facing microphones easily cancel out low frequencies, but also the midrange which are the most difficult to erase. On the other hand, high tones such as the sound of a vacuum cleaner running or the screeching of a train braking remain audible. Finally, an “attentive” mode allows you to clearly hear external sounds to remain aware of your surroundings.
